Influential auction house Christie’s is launching its new online sale of rare paintings, prints, sculptures, and one-offs by a number of today’s leading contemporary artists, including KAWS, Banksy, and more.
The digital auction titled Trespassing will focus on graffiti’s influence on contemporary art by bringing together key works by KAWS, Banksy and Invader juxtaposed with works by Jonas Wood, Julie Curtiss, and George Condo, to name a few.
Highlights include: KAWS’ handpainted Astro Boy meets COMPANION figure that is estimated to sell for up to $200,000 USD, a vivid mosaic tile work by Invader dubbed SP_43 that is valued at $60,000 USD, and an oil painting by Jonas Wood called Big Brown that may fetch for $70,000 USD or more. The sale also includes a spray-painted Kawasaki ZX-10 motorcycle by Futura.
“Trespassing harnesses a strong global vibe. Because of the superb quality, working with Christie’s to present the opportunity to acquire these vital works is a momentous thrill,” said collector and co-curator of the sale, Ronnie K. Pirovino.
